Kira Carsen

Kira is a companion for the Jedi Knight who fills the melee DPS role. She is the second companion picked up by the Jedi Knight. Kira is first met very early on Tython; she is an "extremely vocal" padawan assigned to Master Bela Kiwiiks, a Togruta member of the Jedi Council. However, Kira and her master move on to Coruscant, and it's not until the player catches up to her there that she becomes a "guest" companion (around level 14), which means she will fight with you but you can't send her on crafting missions. She becomes a permanent companion at the conclusion of the Coruscant questline, right before the player leaves and obtains the Defender corvette (around level 17), so the Knight will very shortly get his third companion (C2-N2) right after Kira becomes a full-fledged companion.

Prone to cynicism and a stubborn independent streak, Kira Carsen is an improbable recruit to the Jedi Order. This is partially excused by the fact that she began her Padawan training as a young adult; Kira had spent most of her life up to that point as a homeless drifter, scraping out a miserable existence on some of the galaxy's most unpleasant worlds.

Thanks to her hard-luck upbringing, Kira has considerably more life experience than most Jedi -- and a world-weary sophisticate's attitude to match. In the eyes of her peers, Kira is someone who refuses to take anything seriously or fully commit to the Jedi path.

Those who look more closely, however, might detect a glimmer of an optimist peeking through Kira's sarcastic facade. Despite her insistence on questioning its teachings, she has a deep appreciation of the comfort and relative safety she obtained by joining the Jedi order.

Kira can use a regular or double-bladed lightsaber, but she is restricted to using light armor. Though she was shown using stealth in one of the preview videos, that was a one-time use of a mechanical stealth generator; she does not have a stealth ability. Her default weapon is a green double-bladed lightsaber.


Kira will respond positively to honest and forthright conversation options, and negatively to cowardly or greedy or self-aggrandizing statements. However, she respects strong actions and has a vengeful spirit, and may respond negatively if you seem too meek or try to spare a nefarious opponent. She may also react negatively if you fail to appreciate her sense of humor. It is possible to pursue a romance with Kira, but be aware that attachment is against the Jedi code, and so the player will receive a few Dark Side points for this course of action. Kira likes gifts of jewelry, but she seemed to like a gift of a technological gadget even more.
